I’m already pretty well invested in .308, and certainly there continue to be good reasons to have one. Unfortunately, I'm not currently in the financial position to buy a new 6.5 Creedmoor or I might well have bought one. What I am considering is building a 6.8 SPC barreled AR-15 upper to use for hunting on one of my lowers. But if I had the lucre, I’d definitely buy a 6.5 Creedmoor bolt gun…not so much because I want to try shooting out to really extreme ranges, but because I’d like to have a flatter-shooting longer range hunting capability without added recoil thump.
You could go the more budget friendly route like I did and get a Ruger American Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor
