Comal county had lifted the burn ban and we had a roaring fire to sit and watch and reminisce on all the years there. I have been there for 29 years and he for 69 years beginning with his family. His ashes will have a place of honor at our camp house.

I haven’t been to the site for a couple of days, so didn’t see your opening post until just a few minutes ago. I prayed right then for God to either heal him or call him home, either way God be praised. And then I read this. It sounds like he was called home…a reason to rejoice even in the midst of the sadness of loss. What an honor it was for you to have had this last time together before he was taken. Traditions like this can’t be bought with money. They require an investment of self. It sounds like you and your friend invested well. My condolences, but I envy the good fortune you have had to have friends like that.
